I was inspired to create FortyTwo Million Pixel Shark after reading The $12 Million Stuffed Shark: The Curious Economics of Contemporary Art by Don Thompson. Mr. Thompson takes as the title of his book the occassion of artist Damien Hirst's The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (a stuffed shark) selling for twelve million dollars.
I must say that I found The $12 Million Stuffed Shark: The Curious Economics of Contemporary Art highly readable and enlightening and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the art market.
So I offer my own FortyTwo Million Pixel Shark as a poor man's alternative to the "$12 Million Stuffed Shark."

“There are no rules about investment. Sharks can be good. Artist's dung can be good. Oil on canvas can be good. There's a squad of conservators out there to look after anything an artist decides is art.”
