Intus Astrum Navis (Within the Starship)
Intus Astrum Navis is Latin for Within the Star Ship. With this piece, I wanted to create a science fiction work that was reminiscent of the geometric works of M. C. Escher but more organic and alien. I felt that the interior of an alien space ship would provide the most freedom of form. Also, exterior views of alien spacecraft are quite common but interior views exceedingly rare. Choosing the road less travelled was the best choice.
If I did not tell you that this was the interior of an alien space ship, would you have known? For that matter, can you be certain that I am being truthful when I claim that the picture is that of a space ship? One of the definitions of abstract is that which exists only in the mind. In my mind, I see a spacecraft... maybe.
