Big Science at Fermilab
Big Science is derived from a photograph of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory's (aka Fermi Lab) Cockcroft-Walton preaccelerator. I decided on the title Big Science because Fermi is Illinois's principle claim to scientific greatness.
At the time I took the source photograph, the preaccelerator could be viewed as a part of the standard tour of Fermi Lab. I was particularly struck by the very science fiction look and feel of this piece of high technology.
